God's Will is Goodwill - An Ode for Yuletide
In this season of goodwill
Outside there's a chill
Work is at a standstill
And our stomachs we fillIt's a time of rest
When some will be blessed
Loved ones caressed
But others stressedImmune from their despair
Sitting in an armchair
We blame Tony Blair
For modern warfareBut it's human hearts
That are why war starts
Building strong ramparts
To protect our sweetheartsDid God protect His Son
Who was His 'number one'?
What plan at Christmas was begun
That claimed a victory was won?"Here's my babe, it is my will
Born for Easter, you to kill
I willingly send Him through the mill
And my Son will take this poison pill"To defend oneself is to invite attack
Whatever is sown, one gets back
To avoid a future that is black
We must rediscover what we lackIn this season of goodwill
Let's climb a difficult hill
Let others be what they will
And so the Christmas spirit fulfil© 2006 Steve Myers
